Math Equations in First

Students worked on math equations with part-part-whole facts.
If they know 4+5=9 they also know 5+4=9 and 9-5=4 and 9-4=5.

Summertime Woes

What if you found out that your child was not going to learn any math after March?
No parent would be okay with that idea!

Did you know that research shows that by not working on math during the summer you are allowing that to happen?

Even more than reading, students lose math skills over the summer.  On average about three months. That would be the same as not teaching them any math after March.
Still not okay?

The good news is you can slow or even stop that trend with just a few minutes a day.  You don't need to teach any math. Review is all that needs to be done.  They can teach you.  There is a world of math topics on the internet for every grade level. Almost all of them explain what is happening and give the answers!

Want to read a short story or article (less than 5 minutes)?  Try BT Math

Want to watch a video? Kahn Academy has thousands.

Want something sent to your e-mail? This will deliver every day.

Want a workbook that can travel? Amazon has dozens like this

Want a more specific idea? Email me or join the blog and ask away.

You can help your child and your teachers by spending 5 minutes a day and don't let those 3 months go!
